Single Fetal Demise at 10 - 14 Weeks of Monochorionic and Dichorionic Twin Pregnancy
BACKGROUND We examined the perinatal outcomes in cases of at least one fetal demise in monochorionic and diamniotic twin pregnancies. METHODS We reviewed the obstetric records of all Japanese twin pregnancies managed beyond 9 weeks' gestation at Japanese Red Cross Katsushika Maternity Hospital between 2008 and 2014. RESULTS The incidence in the monochorionic twin pregnancies was significant...
متن کاملZika Virus Infection during Pregnancy in Mice Causes Placental Damage and Fetal Demise
Zika virus (ZIKV) infection in pregnant women causes intrauterine growth restriction, spontaneous abortion, and microcephaly. Here, we describe two mouse models of placental and fetal disease associated with in utero transmission of ZIKV. Female mice lacking type I interferon signaling (Ifnar1(-/-)) crossed to wild-type (WT) males produced heterozygous fetuses resembling the immune status of hu...
متن کاملSeasonal Influenza A (H1N1) Infection in Early Pregnancy and Second Trimester Fetal Demise
A second trimester fetal demise followed influenza-like illness in early pregnancy. Influenza A virus (H1N1) was identified in maternal and fetal tissue, confirming transplacental passage. These findings suggested a causal relationship between early exposure and fetal demise. Management of future influenza outbreaks should include evaluation of products of conception associated with fetal loss.
متن کاملEarly 2nd trimester fetal demise in a monochorionic twin pregnancy: A cautionary tale
It is well established that the death of one fetus in a monochorionic twin pregnancy places the surviving twin at significant risk for neuro-developmental delay or death. Although the early 1st trimester "vanishing twin" has not traditionally been considered a major risk, the precise gestational threshold beyond which a surviving twin is at risk remains uncertain. Most experts recommend serial ...
متن کاملMisoprostol for termination of pregnancy with intrauterine fetal demise in the second and third trimester of pregnancy - a systematic review.
BACKGROUND A systematic review was conducted to compare with other methods, using the best available evidence, the benefits and risks associated with the administration of misoprostol to terminate pregnancy with fetal demise in the second and third trimesters (defined as gestational age of more than 14 weeks). STUDY DESIGN We assessed all published randomized controlled trials identified from...
